Things happen slowly ... until they happen all at once. Here's some news you can use!

  1. We swapped Internet service providers. Comcast is gone; all hail T-Mobile Fiber. We've added additional wireless access points and have a much more stable bidirectional fiber connection, as well as simplified the naming of access points (no more picking 2.4 vs 5 Ghz!). That all happened last Thursday. We were not expecting them to be ready until May.
  2. We are anticipating taking in a very large collection of books in the next couple of weeks. These will be religion texts, primarily, but unlike our current collection which leans heavily mid-century Reformed, this batch is predominantly contemporary Catholic.
  3. We are moving forward with a new inventory and point-of-sale platform. It's taken a hot second for the vendor (Basil) to be ready to onboard us — we first reached out to them in December — but we're starting that journey today. The platform will allow for dynamic book pricing, a credit system, and the pushing of products to popular book-related online storefronts.
  4. When the Basil platform is in place, we will be closing the store for roughly a week to complete the labeling and inventory-system swap. That week will be sometime in April, but the specific window is TBD until we marshal the troops. So stay tuned!
  5. When inventory is done, we will be formally launching the bookstore. That'll mean more consistent hours, more "new" books from local authors, and more opportunities for author events.

To make all of this happen:

  • We are closed today and tomorrow (Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17) for extended inventory-planning meetings plus a routine vet appointment. We will hold our normal Wednesday and Thursday hours this week, but not Saturday.
  • We are closed Tuesday, March 24. As it happens, Jason will be out of town.

Thank you for your patience — "inventory" has become a bit of a punchline around here lately, but with a solid plan now in place, we look forward to being organized and tidy very, very soon.
