Love books? Love authors? Then join us on Saturday, September 12, for an all-day book and author festival — the Holland Literary Festival.

With 75 confirmed authors, food trucks, panels, and live music, this event will help you find your next great read, from the author who lives just down the street from you.

The bookstore will be closed; we'll be working the festival. Come see us!

In Other News

Our silent-writing event has proven quite useful for the folks who attend. You are welcome to join us every Thursday from 4p to 7p. We meet in the conference room, because the bookstore is technically closed. Do not fear; just walk past the karate people and enter the back door that has a picture of a cat on it. You can come at any time (just not early) and leave at any time. No cost. Bring outside food and beverage to your heart's content.

Which reminds me: You have to like cats, because there are two back there.

Theon and Kali, on the love seat. But they don't truly love each other, alas.

This Wednesday, our Book Club titles are The Trial and Metamorphosis by Kafka. Discussion starts at 6p, and I'm told there will be ice cream. Come if and only if you have read these books and are prepared to discuss them, or "no soup for you."

Be prepared to join us on Saturday, November 21, for a "Day of Knockout Noveling." This is the day-long potluck for That November Thing novel-writing challenge. More to come!

Through the rest of 2026, we'll be closed on the following dates:

  • Saturday, Sept. 5 — Jason and Cade have an all-day event across the state.
  • Saturday, Sept. 12 — Holland Lit Fest!
  • Friday, October 9 — Jason and Cade will be in Illinois.

The week of Thanksgiving, we're closed on Thursday and Saturday (the 9a-1p days) but open Wednesday and Friday (the 1p-9p days).

We are closed for winter vacation starting Dec. 23, and re-opening Jan. 6.
