It feels as if it's been forever that I've been "working on inventory." And in some ways, it has been forever: I've been partnering with a specific vendor for quite some time, but they keep dragging their feet in database provisioning. Ugh.

But progress, as they say, comes to us all. And to Jason's Books & Coffee, it's here.

So here's the deal:

  • We're open on the following days, like normal: Tue/Wed/Thu, June 9/10/11 and June 16/17/18.
  • We're closed on Monday the 8th and Monday the 15th.

When we close on June 18, we won't re-open until Wednesday, July 8. During that two-week window, we're repricing all inventory and making some behind-the-scenes updates to permit online sales.

What this means for you, starting in July:

  1. We'll have new hours — we'll be open 24 hours per week over four consecutive days, on a more normal schedule. Basically, we'll be open Wednesday/Friday 1p to 9p and Thursday/Saturday 9a to 1p. This schedule means I'll be able to consistently staff the store without unplanned closures, and that includes arranging for part-time help for when I'm truly not available. So no more showing up to find the doors locked!
  2. Books will be priced individually.
  3. We'll launch a store credit program. These credits replace the former cash-for-books program we used to run. (Existing Square gift cards will continue to work.)
  4. More opportunities for different/expanded programming, including (I think) a silent reading club and a classics book club.

More details to come. But for now, wish us luck. :)
